POUND-YA is a new style of hamburg and steak restaurant bringing the concept of gourmet beef for adults. (Hamburg is a special type of Japanese grilled meatloaf) The first one opened in Kichijoji in April 2014 and made a big splash, exceeding expectations and ringing in sales of 600,000 yen per 1 tsubo (3.3 square meters) per month in the first year. The beginning of this runaway success started when predecessor of the planning company. received an order from a company with a new menu concept of a hamburg specialty.That company asked predecessor of the planning company. to develop a new style of hamburg and steak restaurant with the goal of increasing product sales.predecessor of the planning company and this company started the development, operation and transformation of a store front that once was a teppanyaki pub.predecessor of the planning company. created a “Beef tavern style restaurant” where customers can enjoy 100% domestically produced Kuroge Wagyu beef at a reasonable price. This is also the perfect place to celebrate special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries or other memorable events.

Half of the restaurant is designated for dining only, with 35% being a tavern style place where light meals and alcohol are served, and the remaining 15% a sake bar where customers can enjoy a variety of sake. A detailed business model, from menu structure to service, was designed so that the restaurant can keep a good balance between each category. In addition, a simple operation was implemented so that it would not be a business style with dependence on a single chef.

This kind of “multi-functionality” attracted a larger number of customers than if just operating in one business style, and sales stabilized. The present gourmet hamburg and steak concept is a promising trend which we predicted in our original expectations. This was the impetus for the development of the first store. We opened a new branch in Roppongi in April 2015 and in Haneda Airport in July of the same year. Our future aim is to improve performance by expanding our liquor selections so that we can attract an adult clientele with refined tastes and discretionary income to spend.
